― 주역으로 눈을 뜨는 상큼한 지혜 : 동인(同人)괘
세상을 살아가다 보면 혼자서는 절대 넘어설 수 없는 순간들이 찾아온다.
아무리 뛰어난 재능을 가진 사람이라도, 끝내 사람과 연결되지 못하면 큰 길을 이루기 어렵다.
반대로 평범한 사람이라도 진심으로 뜻을 나누는 사람들을 만나면 예상하지 못한 거대한 흐름을
만들어내기도 한다.
주역의 64괘 가운데 동인괘(同人卦) 는 바로 그런 이야기를 담고 있다.
“함께한다는 것.”, “사람과 뜻을 나눈다는 것.”, “진짜 동료를 만난다는 것.”
겉보기에는 단순히 인간관계를 말하는 괘처럼 보이지만, 사실 동인괘는 인간 사회와 조직, 리더십,
연대, 협력, 그리고 ‘누구와 함께 길을 가야 하는가’를 알려주는 매우 깊은 괘다.
특히 현대 사회처럼 혼자 살아가기 어려운 시대에는 더욱 강력한 의미를 가진다.
1. 동인괘(同人卦)란 무엇인가?
동인괘의 한자는 다음과 같다.
- 同(같을 동)
- 人(사람 인)
즉, “사람들과 뜻을 함께함” 이라는 의미다.
주역에서는 동인괘를 이렇게 설명한다. “동인우야(同人于野) 형(亨)”
“들판에서 사람들과 함께하니 형통하다.”
여기서 중요한 것은 “들판(野)”이라는 표현이다. 왜 하필 궁궐이나 집이 아니라 넓은 들판일까?

동인괘는 다음과 같은 구조로 이루어진다.
- 위 : 건(乾) ☰ → 하늘
- 아래 : 리(離) ☲ → 불
즉, “하늘 아래 불이 있는 모습” 이다.
불은 빛을 비추고 빛은 사람을 모은다.
캄캄한 밤에 모닥불 하나가 피어 있으면 사람들이 자연스럽게 모여드는 것처럼, 동인괘는 사람을 연결하는
중심 에너지를 상징한다.
또한 불은 혼자 존재하기 어렵다. 나무가 있어야 타오르고, 바람이 있어야 살아 움직인다.
즉 동인괘는 “관계 속에서 살아나는 힘”을 의미한다.
혼자만 잘나서 되는 것이 아니라, 함께 빛날 때 진짜 힘이 생긴다는 뜻이다.
3. 동인괘가 나타날 때의 인생 흐름
동인괘가 삶에 들어오는 시기는 보통 다음과 같은 특징이 나타난다.
① 사람 인연이 강하게 들어온다
갑자기 새로운 모임이 생긴다. 새로운 동료, 귀인, 협력자, 파트너, 혹은 인생을 바꿀 스승을 만나기도 한다.
혼자 끌고 가던 일이 누군가의 도움으로 갑자기 커지는 경우도 많다.
특히 동인괘는 “같은 뜻을 가진 사람”과 연결될 때 힘이 커진다.
단순한 친분이 아니라, 가치관이 맞는 사람을 만나는 것이 중요하다.
② 혼자만의 고집이 깨진다
동인괘는 때때로 “혼자서는 안 된다”는 현실을 보여주기도 한다. 혼자 다 하려 하면 오히려 막힌다.
내 생각만 옳다고 주장하면 사람들이 멀어진다. 그래서 동인괘는 겸손과 소통을 배우게 만든다.

On the other hand, even an ordinary person can create an unexpectedly powerful flow when they meet

Among the 64 hexagrams of the I Ching, Hexagram Tongin (同人卦) speaks precisely of this.
“To be together.”
“To share one’s purpose with others.”
“To encounter true companions.”
At first glance, it may appear to be a simple hexagram about human relationships. In reality, however,
Tongin is a profoundly deep hexagram about human society, organizations, leadership, solidarity,
cooperation, and ultimately, “who we should walk alongside in life.”
Especially in today’s world—where it is increasingly difficult to survive alone—its meaning becomes
even more powerful.
1. What Is Hexagram Tongin (同人卦)?
The Chinese characters of Tongin are:
- 同 (tong) — together, same
- 人 (in) — people
Together, they mean:
“To share one’s purpose with others.”
The I Ching describes Tongin as follows:
“同人于野 亨”
“Fellowship with people in the open fields brings success.”
The important part here is the phrase “in the open fields” (野).
Why a wide field rather than a palace or a private home?
