고대 중국의 성군으로 전해지는 **순(舜)**은
처음부터 위대한 군주가 아니었습니다.
그는 젊은 시절, 들판에서 땅을 일구는 평범한 농부였습니다.
사람들은 순을 두고 말했습니다.
요령이 없고, 세상 물정도 모른다고.
남들은 땅을 속여 수확을 늘릴 궁리를 할 때,
그는 그저 하늘의 때를 기다리며
정직하게 밭을 갈았을 뿐이기 때문입니다.
그러나 해가 거듭될수록
순의 밭은 점점 기름져졌고,
그의 태도를 본 사람들은 자연스레 그를 신뢰하게 되었습니다.
마침내 그 신뢰는 백성의 마음을 얻어
그를 천자의 자리에까지 이르게 합니다.
억지로 얻으려 하지 않았기에
오히려 큰 길이 열렸던 삶.
이것이 바로 천뢰무망이 말하는 도리입니다.
Shun (舜), remembered as a sage ruler of ancient China,
was not born a great king.
In his youth, he was merely a farmer,
working the fields like any other man.
People spoke of him this way:
“He lacks cleverness.
He doesn’t understand the ways of the world.”
While others schemed to outwit the land
and increase their harvests through trickery,
Shun simply waited for Heaven’s timing
and tilled his fields with honesty.
Yet as the years passed,
his land grew ever more fertile.
Those who watched him
came, without effort, to trust him.
That trust eventually won the hearts of the people
and led him to the throne of the Son of Heaven.
Because he did not force his way forward,
a greater path opened before him.
This is the way
that Heavenly Thunder, No Delusion teaches.

First, do not embellish your words.
Today, plain and truthful speech carries more power than eloquent phrasing.
Second, do not rush the outcome.
Even if today’s actions are not judged immediately,
they remain—under the name of trust.
Third, do not take small attitudes lightly.
A choice that seems trivial
can determine the entire flow of the day.
인생 후반을 위한 주역의 가르침 The I Ching’s Teaching for the Later Years of Life
젊은 날에는
잘 보이는 것이 지혜였고,
앞서 나가는 것이 능력이었습니다.
하지만 인생의 후반부로 갈수록
숨기지 않아도 되는 선택,
부끄럽지 않은 태도가
오래 남는 지혜가 됩니다.
오늘의 괘는 말합니다.
조금 서툴러도 괜찮고,
조금 느려도 괜찮으니
진심에서 벗어나지만 말라고.
In youth,
appearing capable was considered wisdom,
and moving ahead of others was seen as ability.
But as life enters its later seasons,
choices that need no concealment,
and attitudes free from shame,
become the wisdom that truly endures.

It is all right to be a little unskilled.
It is all right to be a little slow.
Just do not stray from sincerity.
