입춘은 달력 위의 날짜가 아니다.
우리 조상들에게 입춘은 보이지 않는 세계가 움직이기 시작하는 날이다.
눈은 여전히 남아 있고 바람은 차가워도, 사람들은 입춘이 오면 말한다.
Ipchun is not just a date on the calendar.
For our ancestors, Ipchun was the day when the unseen world began to move.
Even when snow still remained and the wind was bitterly cold, people would say
a new time had come once Ipchun arrived.
입춘에서 빠질 수 없는 것이 바로 '입춘첩'이다.
경상도 일대에는 입춘날 글귀를 붙이지 않은 집에는 잡귀가 들어온다는
이야기가 전해진다.
One thing that cannot be left out when talking about Ipchun is the “Ipchuncheop,”
the spring couplet.
In the Gyeongsang Province region, there has long been a saying that on Ipchun
day, any house that doesn’t put up a written phrase will be entered by stray spirits.
어느 마을에 매년 입춘만 되면 집안에 병이 도는 집이 있었는데,
서당 훈장이 직접 붓으로 ‘입춘대길’ 네 글자를 써 붙이자
그해부터 병이 사라졌다고 한다.
There is a story about a certain household in a village where, every year at Ipchun,
illness would spread through the family. Then one year, the village teacher personally
brushed the four characters “Ipchun Daegil” (Great Fortune in the Beginning of Spring)
and pasted them on their door, and from that year on the illness disappeared.
이후 사람들은 믿게 되었다.
“글자는 단순한 글이 아니라 기운을 부르는 문이다.”
After that, people came to believe:
“Letters are not just writing, but a gate that calls in energy.”
그래서 입춘첩은 장식이 아니라 일종의 부적이었다.
So the Ipchuncheop was not a mere decoration, but a kind of talisman.
입춘 아침, 처음 만나는 사람이 누구냐에 따라
그해 운이 달라진다는 이야기도 있다.

사주와 주역이 말하는 진짜 한 해의 시작은 '입춘'이다.

village at dawn on Ipchun day and greet them first.
Children were taught: “On the morning of Ipchun, smile first.”
According to Saju (Four Pillars) and the I Ching, the true beginning of the year
is Ipchun.
사람들은 설날이 지나야 새해가 왔다고 느끼지만,
사주와 주역에서 보는 운명의 새해는 ‘입춘’부터다.
People feel that the New Year truly comes only after Lunar New Year’s Day,
but in terms of destiny as seen through Saju and the I Ching, the new year begins
with Ipchun.
입춘은 음이 물러나고 양이 처음 숨 쉬는 순간, 즉 기운이 바뀌는 출발선이다.
