요즈음 유튜브를 보면 많은 곳에서 미래에 대한 예언을 소개하며 미국 대통령선거 결과를 예측하고 한국이 머지않아

2025년에는 남북통일을 이루고 전세계가 놀랄 최고의 선진국으로 떠오를 것이란 예언은 대한민국의 국민들의 마음을

설레게 만든다.

 

If you look at YouTube these days, many places introduce prophecies about the future, predicting the results of the U.S. presidential election, and predicting that Korea will soon be in power.
The prophecy that South and North Korea will unify in 2025 and emerge as the most advanced country that will surprise

 the world has touched the hearts of the people of the Republic of Korea.
It makes my heart flutter.

 

1929년  4월 2일 인도의 시성 타고르가 대한민국에 대한 시 "동방의 등불"을 동아일보에 남겼는데 내용은 다음과 같다.

 

On April 2, 1929, Indian saint Tagore left a poem about Korea, “Lamp of the East,” in the Dong A Ilbo, the contents of which are as follows.

 

일찍이 아시아의 황금시기에                         
빛나던 등촉의 하나인 조선
그 등불 한번 다시 켜지는 날에
너는 동방의 밝은 빛이 되리라.

2002년 1월 부터 방영된 kbs 드라마 "겨울연가' 가 일본에 소개되면서 한류드라마의 진정한 사랑을 선 보였고 그후

'싸이'의  '강남스타일'이 인기를 끌면서 k-pop 이 대중에게 등장하더니 드라마 '별에 온 그대' 는 치맥(치킨과 맥주)이란

단어를 유행시켰고 '오징어게임'은 '무궁화꽃이 피었습니다' 란 어릴적 어린이놀이를 부활시켰고 영화 '기생충' 은 아카

데미 작품상등 4관왕을 수상하는 등 대한민국을 전세계에 알리는 촉매작용을 하게 되면서 이제는 모든나라에서 인정

받는 멋있는 나라로 등극하게 되었다.

As 'Psy's 'Gangnam Style' became popular, K-pop appeared to the public, and the drama 'My Love from the Star' became known as chicken and beer made the word popular.

 

‘Squid Game’ revived the childhood game of ‘The Rose of Sharon has Bloomed’, and the movie ‘Parasite’
It served as a catalyst for promoting Korea to the world, winning four awards including the Academy Best Picture Award, and is now recognized in all countries. It has emerged as a wonderful country.

 

40여년전 내가 미국에서 공부할 때는 한국에서 왔다고 하면 거의 대다수의 사람들이 한국이 어디있는지 들어보지도 못

했다는 사람들이 태반이었고 들어본 사람이라도 개발도상국 또는 후진국으로 아프리카 보다도 잘 모르는 사람들이 

많았는데 이제야 한국이 선진국의 반열에 섰다니 감회가 새롭다.

 

About 40 years ago, when I was studying in the United States, most people would not even have heard of where Korea was if I told them I was from Korea.

The vast majority of people had heard of it, but even those who had heard of it were in developing or underdeveloped 

countries, and there were people who didn't know much about it, even Africa. 
There were many, but now it feels refreshing to see that Korea has finally joined the ranks of advanced countries.
