                                                              은퇴한 노인들(retired old people)

 

 

2005년 6월 경 대한항공 재직시 은퇴 후 노후 대비를 위하여 파주 금촌동에 있는 상가를 매입

하였다.

추후 먼 미래를 대비하여 5층에 있는 501호 와 507호 총 55평 정도 되는 공간을 인테리어를

하여 파주 최초 북카페(티니비 북카페)를 개설하여 건너편 금화 초등학교 학생은 물론 많은

젊은 어머니들에게 많은 사랑를 받았다.

​In June 2005, while working at Korean Air, I purchased a commercial building in Geumchon

dong, Paju to prepare for his retirement.

In preparation for the distant future, we decorated rooms 501 and 507 on the 5th floor, 

a total of 55 pyeong, and opened the first book cafe in Paju (Tinibee Book Cafe), 

which was loved by many young mothers as well as students at Geumhwa Elementary 

School across the street.

 

501호 에는 예쁜 쇼파와 테이블 및 미국 도서관에서 직접 공수해온 수많은 영어책으로 꾸며져

색다른분위기를 연출했고 건너편 방에는 어린이놀이 시설을 설치하여 토요일 일요일은 생일

파티 및 호기심에 방문하신 외지 손님으로 북적거렸다.

Room 501 was decorated with a pretty sofa and table, and numerous English books

imported directly from an American library, creating a unique atmosphere. In the room

across the way, a children's play facility was installed, and on Saturdays and Sundays,

it was bustling with birthday parties and curious out-of-town guests.

 

더군다나 어느지방 방송국에서는 파주 이색 카페를 소개해 주는 프로그램을 제작한다며

카페 내부를 촬영해 가면서 광고비 얼마를 내면 대대적으로 선전해 주겠다고 나를 설득

하곤 했다.

Moreover, a local broadcasting station tried to persuade me by filming the inside of the

cafe and saying that they were making a program introducing a unique cafe in Paju,

and that they would advertise it extensively if I paid them a certain amount of advertising

fee.

 

커피는 물론 쿠키와 각종 캔디등을 판매했는데 외부 음식 반입 금지에도 생일파티에 짜장면

이나 떡볶이등을 가져와서 예쁜 테이블 및 쇼파에 각종 오물을 다 묻혀놓고 청소도 안하고

각종 생일파티 장식품들을 사방에 널부려 놓고 가는 바람에 그날은 새벽 1시 까지 쓰레기를

정리해야했다.

They sold coffee, cookies, and various candies, but even though outside food was

prohibited, they brought in things like jajangmyeon and tteokbokki to the birthday party,

and they left all sorts of dirt on the pretty tables and sofas, and they didn't even clean

up, and they left all kinds of birthday party decorations scattered everywhere, so we had

to clean up the trash by 1 a.m. that day.

 

게다가 학원건물이라 학생들이 쉬는시간에 쿠키를 사는 척 만져보다 안보는 사이에 주머니에

집어놓고 달아나는 바람에 마음고생이 이만저만이 아니었다.

In addition, since it was a school building, students would pretend to buy cookies during

break time, put them in their pockets when I wasn't looking, and run away, which was

very painful.

 

학원 선생님에게 학생들 단속 좀 시켜달라고 수십 번 말 했지만 학부모에게 당신 자식이 훔쳐

갔다고 말할 수도 없는 처지라 우리에게 죄송하다는 말 뿐이었고 경찰에게 신고도 생각해

보았지만 어린학생이 혹시라도 잘못 될까봐 전전긍긍 하던 차에 마침 김해공항으로 발령이

나게되어 부득이 어린이 카페를 어떤 목사님에게 내어놓게 되었다.

I told the academy teacher dozens of times to discipline the students, but he couldn't tell

the parents that their child stole, so he could say was that I was sorry, and I thought about

reporting it to the police, but I was worried that something might go wrong with the young

student, and at that time, I was transferred to Gimhae Airport, so I had no choice but to give

the children's cafe to a pastor.

 

2년 반을 김해공항에서 근무하다가 퇴직을 하면서 돌아 왔는데 그 예쁘던 카페가 완전 페허로

변한 것이 아닌가? 원상복구를 해놓아야 하는데 아무런 조치도 없이 그대로 놔두어 항의를

했지만 말도 안되는 변명으로 일관하며 자기는 최선을 다했다며 발뺌을 하는 그를 보면서

어찌 하나님을 믿는다는 목회자가 그럴 수가 있는지 그 다음 부터는 양아치보다도 못한 목사

하고는 내 마음도 검게 물들까 봐 절대 말도 섞지않고 가까이 하지도 않게 되었다.

​After working at Gimhae Airport for two and a half years and retiring, I returned to find that

pretty cafecompletely ruined. 
It needed to be restored, but they didn't do anything and left it as it was. I protested,

but he kept making ridiculous excuses and saying he did his best.

I wondered how a pastor who believes in God could do that. From then on, I never

talked to him or got close to him, fearing that my heart would be stained black by a pastor

who was worse than a gangster.

 

카페를 운영하며 노후에 착하고 순진한 학생들에게 미래에 대한 꿈도 키워주며 맨토 역할로

도움을 주리라는 소박한 꿈은 전혀 순진하지도 않고 착하지도 않은 아이들에게 농락 당하는

기분이었다. 그래서 거의 망가진 카페는 접고 학원임대 사업을 시작 했다.

The simple dream of running a cafe and helping kind and innocent students dream about

the future and acting as a mentor felt like being toyed with by children who were neither

innocent nor kind. 
So I closed the nearly ruined cafe and started a private academy rental business.

 

다른 곳 보다 저렴하게 임대를 준 덕분인지 9~10년 간 임차인과 좋은 관계를 유지 했지만

갑자기 집을 이사해야 해서 집근처 상가를 알아본다며 나가겠다고 통보가 왔다.

마음씨도 곱고 예쁘게 생긴 원장선생님인데 그동아 정이 들어서인지 섭섭한 마음이 들었지만

인생사가 애별리고(愛別離苦) 인 것을 어찌 하리오.

Thanks to the cheaper rent than other places, I had maintained a good relationship with

the tenant for 9~10 years, but suddenly I got a notice that she had to move and was

looking for a commercial space near her house. 
The director was kind and pretty, so I felt sad because I had grown attached to her,

but what can I do about the bitterness of separation in life?

 

몇 몇 예언가들은 내년 2025년 을사년에는 대한민국이 통일이 된다며 앞으로 파주도 크게

발전할 것 이라며 기대해보라고 하지만 내 나이도 내년이면 계사년 뱀띠이니 73세가 된다.

예전 같으면 볼품없는 할아버지로 살아가겠지만 아직 한창 젊은 나이라고 하니 이제부터는

무엇인가에 얽매여 살지않고 마음가는대로 자유롭게 살고 싶다.

Some prophets say that the Republic of Korea will be unified in 2025, the year of Eulsa, 

and that Paju will also develop greatly in the future, so look forward to it. But I will also 

be 73 next year, the year of Gyesa, the year of the snake. 

If it were me, I would live as an unattractive grandfather, but since I am still young,

I want to live freely from now on without being tied down by anything.

 

이 상가를 최초 매입할 때에는 크지는 않지만 501호는 아들에게, 507호는 딸에게 남겨주고

싶은 마음이있었지만 언제 저세상으로 돌아갈지 그때까지는 우리 부부의 앞날 만 바라보고

살고싶다.

그래서 이번 기회에 얼마되지도 못하는 작은 상가지만 팔아서 캠핑카도 사고 그동안 못다한

여행도 해보고 손자.손녀에게 용돈도 충분히 줄 수 있는 멋진 할아버지로 남고 싶다.

When I first bought this store, it wasn't that big, but I wanted to leave 501 to my son

and 507 to my daughter, but until then, I want to live only looking forward to our future

as a couple. 
So, I want to sell this small store, buy a camper van, go on trips I haven't been able to do,

and be remembered as a great grandfather who can give enough pocket money to my

grandchildren.
